Well, as some of you may know our first taste of Canada was not a very good one. Initially, they did not even want to let us in b/c in the words of the minimum wage college student who denied us entry, "I feel you will become a burden to Canada! You must immediately return to the United States." He escorted us to our car and made sure we turned around. Yeah, it was not fun.
We went to East Lansing and spent the night in our friend Peacock's apartment. The next day we got health insurance because that's the only way Canada would allow us inside.
We arrived at our apartment a day late and very tired. By the time we got everything in and ran to the grocerey store it was too late to buy an air mattress to sleep on. Did I mention it was about 90 degrees and we didn't have any air? Yeah, no fun. Jordan slept on the couch and I slept on the twin bed. I know in a few years we'll be able to look back on this and laugh, but at the time it was no fun! We finally got an air mattress, it has cooled off and we are much happier.
Jordan loves his new job. He gets to go to the ballpark for free everyday. What a job! It's not as easy as it sounds though. It's a lot of work. He is doing very well. He has gotten a lot of compliments on his work from the head boss and the beat writers for the other teams. I'm very proud of him.
Canada will not allow me to get a job. It really stinks! I am trying to keep myself busy. I have been running everyday which is a good thing. We live at the end of a subdivision of brick homes and everyday I run through the neighborhoods or should I say neighbourhoods like they do?
Things are quite different here. Not only do they spell a lot of things differently, but they speak differently too. I have actually heard people say aye after sentences. A LOT of people say it too. They have accents as well. They put different emphasis on different syllables. When we went to the grocery store it was quite interesting. Everything was in french and english. Also, the lunch meat was in grams. Everything else was in mililiters. The gas is in liters as well. I didn't know that at first and got really excited when I saw gas was 79 cents. Another thing I thought was interesting was that the milk came in a bag. You have to buy a pitcher and put it in there. Also the butter comes in big blocks not in sticks. The funniest thing of all was when we went to Taco Bell and they asked us if we wanted fries w/ that! They didn't have anything we wanted to order. No enchiritos for Jordan!
We miss everyone so much. Anyone who would like to visit is very welcome too. Snail mail and email is greatly appreciated! Don't forget us up here in Canada! : )
